My Review
So I finally read the flat share after having overlooked it for the past two years. Because I thought it would be like one of those cliché romantic novels. But girl, was I wrong….
Right now, it’s one of my best books so far this year. And I’m really beating myself up for not rating it high all these years. But who wouldn’t though? Seeing as the title and the book description seemed a little bit unrealistic.
But now I know better and would definitely recommend. The flat share is centered around Tiffy and Leon, who not only share a flat with each other but also share a bed. Two imperfect strangers with their own internal demons to heal from.
I initially had a problem with the Tiffy character because I thought she was too all over the place. But as I continued to read and got to understand her more. And the inner battles she had to contend with, I started to feel some sympathy for her. And eventually liked her.
I love how packed the book is and how well it dealt with lots of hard issues. Emotional abuse in relationships being one of them. This got me to think about how we tend not to notice flaws when we are into someone. We don’t see how bad they are for us.
It’s almost like at that time we have a really wet blanket over our faces. And our eyes only lets us see what it wants us to see while blocking out the voice of reason from the brain.
I also love the way the writing of the book just flowed. How the romance between Tiffy and Leon started. From them being penpals with their little post it notes, to them being friends. To when their hearts got entwined, and how everything just synced. Loved every bit of it.
The Flat share is really such a lovely book. And it blew my mind with how good it was. Because I originally didn’t expect it to be. All I can say is that it was a really nice surprise and I think you should read it too.
If you have read it already, I would like to hear your thoughts on it. So please type in the comments section and let’s discuss…
